Janet Freitag Memorial Challenge and Award
2010 Challenge: "Sentimental Journey"
Because this is our 30th anniversary of quilt shows, we want to look back to the history of the 1930s , to those who influenced our lives today.
Entries cannot exceed 120 inches - total of all sides of the quilt. All entries must be designated as a Janet Freitag Challenge entry in order to be considered for this award. Be sure to look for this on the quilt show entry form and mark your entry accordingly. The entries for this Challenge will be hung together at the quilt show, so that they can be found easily for viewing and judging. Palouse Patchers members will select the winner by special ballot during the Friday Family Night viewing prior to the quilt show.
About the Challenge and Award
The Janet Freitag Memorial Challenge and Awardwas instituted in memory of former Palouse Patcher, Janet Freitag, who died after a long bout with colon cancer. Her husband Jon, with the the help of contributions by many quilters, established the Janet Freitag Memorial Endowment Fund. Each year a cash award of $50 is given to the winner of the Challenge. The award money comes from the interest earned by the endowment principal.
